Mount Abu
Mount Abu is a hill station in Rajasthan State near Gujarat border offering very chilled climate during winter season, when temperature may drop below zero degree. To reach Mount Abu, one can use their own vehicle or take a bus from Udaipur Bus Depot or take a taxi from Mount Abu railway station or hire a private car service.
There are number of hotels to choose from at Mount Abu. We stayed at Hotel Maharaja which is located at the Market Place opposite Polo Ground and is at a walkable distance from Nakki Lake.
1. Guru Shikhar: To visit various sites at Mount Abu, we hired a scooter at the Market place and started our journey. Our First location was Guru Shikhar, a peak in the Arbuda Mountains of Sirohi District. Guru Shikhar is the highest point of the Aravalli range giving fascinating view of Mount Abu. There are a good number of steps to climb in order to enjoy the view, therefore it recommended that people having difficulty in climbing steps should avoid. We then came down to our next spot i.e shooting point to enjoy the view.
2. Achal Garh: Our next destination was Achal Garh, a fort at Mount Abu, showcasing features of historical and religious importance. Achaleshwar Mahadev Temple is situated at the outside of the Fort.
3. Trever Tank: Trever Tank is a reservoir popular for sighting crocodile, birds and other wildlife if one is lucky.
4. Dilwara Temple: Next we visited Dilwara Temple. Dilwara Temple are a group of Jain Temples located about 2 to 2.5 km from Mount Abu, and is very beautifully constructed from marble stone. The fine art, patterns and designs on the wall are so unique that no similar patters or features appears to be repeated. Moreover, we also observed the soothing calmness and peaceful ambiance of the marble temple.
5. Arbuda Devi (Adhar Devi) Temple: Our next stop was visiting Adhar Devi where we got the opportunity to perform the Aarti and had an interesting encounter with Monkeys/Baboons whichever name one calls.
6. Sunset Point: Next day we visited Sunset point where we paid about Rs 85 per person as entrance fees. The Place is good for a walk in the nature and taking photographs.
7. Universal Peace Hall: Universal Peace Hall is the headquarter of Brahmakumaris. The entry was free, and one of the assistants took us around the Universal Peace Hall explaining their work.
